Alden Posted February 17, 2010 Report Share Posted February 17, 2010 Hi, I'm attempting to upgrade my Windows 7 RC x64 to Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I have already altered the files so that it won't quit out because I am running a beta version of Windows. When I go to install, it says that I can not upgrade an x86 version of Windows to an x64 version of Windows. The problem is, I am running an x64 version of windows already. I noticed that in the task manager that "setup.exe" was running in 32 bit mode, which is what is causing the problem. Both the x86 and x64 installs are on this disk. AlanHo Posted February 17, 2010 Report Share Posted February 17, 2010 I am under the impression that Microsoft do not allow you to upgrade from the RC version - only from activated full versions of Vista and possibly XP.There are a number of so-called work-arounds on the internet - easily found via Google.
