wilfj
A little off topic... this unit is made to read a external hard drive but will only read my Adobe file. There are several MP3 files but it's blind to all the other files. I have moved some music into the Adobe file and it works. Has Anyone had any experience with this unit or suggestions ?? Could i install a MP3 reader on the drive? What could I use? Thanks
-pops-
I'm having difficulty in determining any information about this device. Can you give a link to clarify some of its details, please?
wilfj
Thanks pops for your interest.. The model no. is YDP530( not 5299 as quoted) made for Yahoo around 2004 and sold in Box Stores for under a $100. It looks like something from Mars, with 2 meters on the front and done in silver and black. In has a cd tray and will play cd/dvd very well. Has a S Video output and component. With a USB port on the front it will play a usb stick, music or pics. Also it has a complete memo setup with a selection for video or audio. A external H/D works through the usb input. There's very little on the net but a search on Yahoo cd/dvd YDP530 will find a few sites including a print manual which i have. Sorry i did not Book mark the site. When you select Video(pics) from the setup it does list all my file folders on the H/d that have pics in them ie Adobe, Photoshop. The problem is that when you select Music the Adobe file shows , no pics but the music that i put into the Adobe file. It lists and plays the music selected very well.Another quirk, if I just put the music on the H/D individually it will find the songs and play them but not any music in a file folder.I come to the conclusion that my H/D is not setup correctly but I tried my other drive and exactly they same thing!! There both formatted with fat32. i tried the H/D on my sons new Western Digital WD TV Live HD media Player( that's another story) and it works. Should I just go out and buy a WD TV Live, i think not ! I'm looking at a Asus unit which is much more user friendly over the Western digital . the printed manual for the WD is about 188 pages !! it has a setup for North Korea but not for the US or Canada, you use Western Europe ..... as i said that's another story for another day. thanks for reading... wilfj
THANKS BORIS.. THE FILE NAMED " ADOBE" is on my external Hard drive and played through the usb port on the unit. The exernal drive is formatted in fat32. When i opened the Adobe file I find the follow info file folders: Acrobat.com, Photoshop 7.0, and reader 9.0. i can't determine the file type. I have about 700 pics and 500 mp3 in the file. As i said earlier the unit finds ALL my pic files BUT will not find my Music file folders on the harddrive. When i select MUSIC in the meno I get the Adobe file !Now that you raised the Question, perhaps I should remove this Adobe file folder and see if my music folders will come up.It could be blocking the Music file folders !( I will save the Adobe file to my other hard drive.) Finally, i may just format the external drive and start fresh with new folders one at a time and see if i can trace the problem that way. it may well fix the problem's.
