Windows Vista Upgrade

Recommended Posts

I recently got Just Cause 2 and installed it but it wouldn't run. It said that my version of Windows isn't supported (I have XP). Luckily I bought my computer back when they gave away Vista upgrades for free so I have a Vista Upgrade. I upgraded it today but I don't think it worked or I'm just missing something. I have used this upgrade before but downgraded to XP after a while. The problem is that when I turn on my computer it looks like Vista is booting up properly, but when it loads it shows up what seems to be the right part of the task bar (keyboard language and time) and opens up My Documents. There's no actual task bar, no icons, just the time and My Documents and everything looks like Windows 98. Pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete takes me to the Vista menu thing with the Task Manager, Log Off, and other stuff that should normally be there. Nothing happens when I press the start button on the keyboard or when I right click. Is there a way to fix this?

It may be that there are residues of previous installs that are preventing the new upgrade being loaded properly.

Are you able to clean install of XP? That is to say delete the old versions of XP and Vista?

You could then start the whole thing afresh.
