Windows Terminal Server for a home

Recommended Posts

Im busy planning a home network . I want to connect our 2 laptops and a (to be built) pc for the kids to surf the net and a (to be built)pc to connect to a flat screen in the kitchen to surf the net. We dont really have the huge storage needs and our kids only play online games on the net (they are 5 and 3).So i was wondering if it was cheaper/smarter to set up a Windows Terminal Server system. As far as i can see the 2 pc´s i need to build only need to be barebone pc´s to run Windows Terminal Server tech.

I have no prior experience with this technology so i would appreciate any comments , thoughts on my idea.

Welcome to WF.

I would suggest you have a look at the following

before you do any more planning.

Solwise are not the only ones on the market, but they are the only ones with which I have had any personal experience. I use them myself and have two friends who now use them. We are all Yorkshiremen so it will give you an indication that they are not "overpriced". They seem to do "what it says on the tin" and they just plug in and work. No additional wires to run for ethernet, and no wireless waves for neighbours to pick up.

Just a suitable router between 'phone outlet and main PC and the one cable from the router to the mains adapter. Then just plug in others as needed. If you are on laptops you can take your adapter with you from room to room.
