Senthil Ramesh Posted April 3, 2010 Report Share Posted April 3, 2010 Hello there, My laptop has vista home basic with it and I have installed two service packs(both sp1 and sp2). Though they are genuine my desktop has a message that its evaluative copy. I get a warning message about Windows activation that my windows will expire in 0 hours and warns me to take back up of files and re install the fresh back up of home basic edition. Also, after the warning message comes, system reboots in some time. This happens for every one hour. Warning message and system reboot. Let me know if I have any solution for this. catgate Posted April 3, 2010 Report Share Posted April 3, 2010 Hello Senthil Ramesh,could it be that you ahe an evaluation copy of Vista and the Service packs have brought in the wherewithal to stop your evaluation. If that is the case then the solution is obvious. I rather think that no one on WF will tell you how to get round that situation.Did you buy the laptop with the evaluation copy pre-installed? ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb Posted May 1, 2010 Report Share Posted May 1, 2010 Thr message you are getting is pretty clear: although "genuine", it is not a released version of Vista, but pre-released (= beta). It doesn't matter that the Service Packs are "released"; it is the basic version of Windows that has expired (on May 31, 2007).You will have to buy and install an officially released version of Windows to resolve your problem.
