Firefox 3.6.2

Recommended Posts

I have just had to uninstall this new version as I have had no end of programs all closing on me and trouble with many others. then noticed on a political forum someone complaining thrown off FF forum for saying their bookmarks are too difficult and I had noticed cant organise them as well as we once were able and thought maybe it was this new version not compatible - had blamed Incredimail as it doesn't always get on with others in the past but had been good for a couple of years now.

Anyway he went back to version 2 and gave a link I used to go back so will post it here for anyone else in need.

Has every version listed seemingly :D

Plus 3.6.2 is not compatible with the IE Tab on the older versions so cant read the newspapers and have to go onto IE8 which also kept closing.

then my Incredimail kept closing because it was somehow using FF to open bits of itself

My Webshots just wouldnt work. Use this for wallpaper and screen saver with lots of dogs and cat photo plus other stunning shots of scenery.

Had this for many years but also they had just put out a new version at same time as FF. So had Incredimail - so took a while to sort out which is the culprit and even now hoping that I have got it.

Anyway uninstalled and went back to FF 3.5.9 and things are starting to settle down.

I also use Secunia PSI to keep me up to date and noticed that I have multiple versions of many programs when checking on Incredimail - I had uninstalled I thought - but still 1 program showing so it opens the file and I sent it to recycle bin then ran Ccleaner so gone.

Now I had used Revo uninstaller and it had got I thought rid of it.

Strange and I wonder if everyone like me has every version of W$ Media Player as well as multiples of a whole heap of their stuff.

I have 2 copies of Outlook Express same versions for example. Yet I never ever downloaded any - came with the computer bundled.

Any comment or just forget it and dont worry?

My version of Firefox is 3.6.3 - can you update to the latest version?

Not had any problems with either the .2 or .3 versions except it tells me that some fancy HP printing accessory (which I don't use) is not compatible with them.

haven't had a compatible IE tab since 3.5.9 and so wont bother to upgrade to 3.6.3 since they still have not done anything about it and I like to read the papers particularly now Gordon B may be given the big A.

Far too many are overwritten by FF alone and get messy.

A bit of peace to work and read without closings and error reporting will be gratefully received.

so far so good.

Funny thing since I went back to Firefox 3.5.9 and had to configure IE8 to read newspapers I have had problems with two programs mail and webshots which is my wallpaper and screensavers.

Tried everything to get them going no use. Then got fed up with IE8 closing all the time as Webshots called them up to report its problems to M$ and the mail program got stuck on this. With an email trying to be saved continuously. Madness I thought - fed up with IE8 closing get new version - did - still not solved the problems using Outlook for mail and then found the saved file in my docs and read an email I had never seen. Tried old email program again and new version after revo uninstaller took out everything - and again IE8 played up. So got rid of it. Tried a new download and that didnt take. So thought - forget it - and next day booted up having only IE6 left and voila everything working - now if I had had hindsight would have saved hours and got rid of it first but as someone said on being told the tale.

"you should always check MS first as they often mess things up" Duh!

funny thing is, this in my second computer since they first brought out IE7 which was not compatible on my first one and then not on this one either but a tech had it and must have downloaded IE8 as I turned off auto downloads yonks back as always got mucked up and do it manually and have for 1-2 years. Two different computers 2 different makes neither liking either IE7 nor seemingly now 8.

So until Firefox make their IE Tab compatible with Firefox 3.6.whatever - I will stick to 3.5.9 which works fine anyway and just as fast.

Maybe this sill ring a cord with someone else who has a problem program they cant fix. check IE.

checking every program on start stopping others didnt point this out. B)

So until Firefox make their IE Tab compatible with Firefox 3.6...

IE Tab, like all other add-ons, is not developed by the Mozilla developers, but by 3rd-party people.

IE Tab is indeed no longer compatible with Firefox 3.6, and most users have uninstalled it, and installed IE Tab 2 from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/10909.

thanks Pat have bookmarked it - I had checked with Mozilla when the new 3.6 came out and no go.

I will stick with things running smoothly right now as a huge backlog of grunt work to catch up with and cant risk the upset of incompatible programs distracting me right now.

My only distraction is Secunia cant recognise that XP SP3 is patched but seems I am not alone on that and will just ignore it.
