How to gain access to my old user area

I moved my old computer out to the garage to make room for a new one in my den. When I tried to start it up in the garage it would not boot up. Since I had another drive with XP also installed on it, I swapped the drives on the cable and booted with the other drive. I can access the old drive but when I try to get to my old documents, I get a message saying I can not have access to those directories. Somehow or other, I don't seem to have permission to get into these particular directories. No one else has used this computer to cause this to happen.

How can I get to them?

Boris, thanks for the reply. It looks like this will solve my problem and I'll find out for sure when I get a chance to try it later this afternoon or evening.

Well, Boris, it worked perfectly and I am able to now copy all those files I probably don't need but think I do.
