vgrozdev Posted June 30, 2010 Report Share Posted June 30, 2010 Situation is my friend had a 4 gb photos on the desktop... windows xp... and one day just something happened and the system didn`t load even in safe mode... Then he installed new windows xp on the D: ... All photos went green (encrypted) ... The question is how to get back them, its extremely important because all photos are only digital and some of them are from 1980+ scanned. Davison Posted July 15, 2010 Report Share Posted July 15, 2010 Can you see the C:/ drive, on which your Windows XP operating system was installed previously? If the drive is invisible and inaccessible, there could be some file system corruption and volume corruption like issues. Try running the Chkdsk.exe utility on the affected partition. If it can not help, you can try using a professional windows data recovery software like Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery (which worked great for me when i faced somewhat similar problem) and then reformat the partition. Before reformatting the drive and reinstalling windows operating system, make sure that you have a complete backup of your data. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
