Baldingbob
I have absolutely no clue how this happened. I tried downloading everything on microsoft.com to fix the problem and nothing has worked. Still says not available for all three of the DirectX features. I was just wondering what a technician from microsoft would do and if it is something i can attempt. If it is, and somebody who reads this can tell me how to do it, i would be very thankful. My computer will not let me play any video game or read disks. Any help AT ALL will be helpful. Thanks.

MANEMAN
Try running a DirectX uninstaller to clean things up and then start again. **Download Uninstaller Here** ( Free Software)Original Vista (Which is what you've got now by going back to factory default) was shipped with a version of DirectX especially for Vista. (Gotta love Microsoft. )After SP1 (Service pack one) I think it would accept different types. Make sure you have SP1, and do all the updates from Microsoft, taking notice of the non-critical updates for software/hardware that may be available to you.Once you've got the uninstaller, you can play around to your hearts content downloading versions of DirectX and then installing/uninstalling until you get one that works with your system and video card.Hope this is of some help Bob.John.
