Windows 2003 Server keeps rebooting

Recommended Posts

I have two Dell Precision 490. First one seems like it has power supply problem. It has Windows 2003 server installed on it. I decided to move the HD to second Precision 490 because I really need to have this server up and running.

When I powered up the PC, the Windows logo comes up and then blue screen of death and immediately it goes into reboot. And it keeps rebooting. Can anyone suggest what might be going on?

Thanks

Ravi

Hi there, and welcome.

Moving an operating system into a dissimilar hardware environment is the first thing that comes to mind.

You can read more here about blue screen and constant reboot: **More Info**

Although the computers are both of the same model, OS's are touchy about where they will work.

John.

Today, I decided to re-install Windows 2003 server on this HD. During boot time I made sure that BIOS sees the HD. Its a Western Digital SATA 250 GB hard disk. The Windows 2003 server booted from DVD and asked if I wanted to repair (Press R). I chose that option. Surprisingly, now the OS says it does not find any hard disk. Whats happening here? Is the HD completely hosed?

Regards

Ravi
