XP: Camera inbuilt in laptop: aperture fluctuation

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am working on a project which required a computer program tracking colour with use of the built in camera in my laptop running Windows XP.

When the camera detects movement or change, the aperture seems to be readjusting to allow a constant light level, but this is not good for me since the very thing I am after is for the light level and intensity/colour changes to affect the program when presented to the camera...

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Hi, and Welcome.

Laptop make and model ?

Have you contacted the manufacturer ?

Does the manufacturer offer support or a forum on their website ?

Would have thought that with this level of webcam that it would have been of fixed aperture.

The manufacturer will know these things, but dont forget to quote the make and model to them, otherwise you will hit a dead end once again.

As this built in webcam is perhaps not going to be up to the job in technical aspects, it may be as well to purchase an external USB webcam of higher specifications more suited to your project.

John.
