I have my SSD installed and it shows up in the bios (setup) area but it doesn't show up anywhere in the ui which is consistent with the setup guidelines. The guidelines provides an address to download an .iso file to burn to CD. I download the file and somehow WinZip changes it and will not let me burn it to CD. The file has the WinZip icon on the left side of the downloaded file and when I attempt to click the file to burn it, the .iso extension turns into a .zip extension and it unzips. This prevents me from continuing the creation of a burned .iso CD, thus I'm not able to boot with the CD that I don't have. bludgard Posted August 29, 2010 Report Share Posted August 29, 2010 Hello,YukonAxe.Welcome.Windows 7 HP doesn't need third party software to unzip .ISO files or to burn them to disk.Do you have the right-click context menu option to burn the .ISO?Uninstall 7zip to see if you get the option to burn the .ISO.If not you may want to figure out how to download this .ISO without 7zip taking control of the file-be it uninstalling 7zip or whatever other option you can come up with. I followed your instructions and unistalled another zip app to prevent the same headache. Anyhow, it still won't burn the .iso to the disk. It showed an .iso file burning onto the CD but when it was done, there was no .iso file on the disk. Instead it had the 7 or 8 files that originally composed the .iso so I tried using it to boot up and all I got was error msgs and a lot of them at that. bludgard Posted August 30, 2010 Report Share Posted August 30, 2010 The guidelines provides an address to download an .iso file to burn to CD.Thank you kindly in advance, RobCare to share the address?It may help in identifying the problem.There are third party softwares out there that can consolidate these files into a burnable .ISO.(This isn't a solution to the root of the problem with Windows inability to execute these commands,but it may work for you).I've had the occasion to use one when I had to clean-install my OS.There was no context menu to select an .ISO burner and I wanted that option.Now I have my native burner.I use it with all back-up and .ISO burning.So far so good. :D There are a multitude to choose from on the net.--->ISO burnersI would suggest creating back-up media if you haven't already. I am getting ready to grab the .iso burn apps. you've suggested and give that a whirl. First I'll post the link for the download and those of you that would like to take a look can. My link. When clicking the download link sometimes it says "Open" and other times it says "Save". I've tried both of them and still end up with a zipped file in my Downloads directory. The file name is: 110902HD88208850.iso What could be easier ... getting a numb skull like me to screw it up that's what's, easier. LOL I must apologize to those people that replied and I didn't answer questions they had asked of me But, I will catch them on the next round. Below is a screen-shot of what I have.I don't undestand you getting a .zip file....Could you provide screen-shots of the .zip file and files within after extracting all?Thanks.
