Mouse Issues driving me nuts

I'm not sure how I screwed up my mouse settings, and I'm not really sure this is a windows issue but i really have no idea where else to post this question. For some reason now when i click and hold on to something for about two seconds, it gets locked and instead of just releasing the mouse button to drop whatever i was dragging i have to click again to drop it. It does it for both the mouse and the touch pad. I've tried changing different mouse settings and clicking "default" on all the tabs that you can under the mouse settings window. The thing that sounds closest like the problem is drag lock but ive screwed around with those settings too to no effect. Anyone know how to fix this?

Hi,cwikert.Welcome to Windows Forum.

What you could try:

1)Try a restore point that pre-dates this issue.

2)Uninstall device driver(s) for this hardware and reboot to reinstall.

3)Initialize a system image that you have created.
