Hi folks,

I need help.

We have a peer to peer network here in our company, for some reason, my boss computer

have issue when he open My Network Place and it take like 30 sec or more to

be able to display other computers or shared document on the network.

My computer or other don't have that issue. We have about 18 PC on the network.

Anyone have a clue why it take long time to be able to see other computer/share

on the network place? I check all the setting, firewall, anti-viruses, etc. but

couldn't find the problem. I guess it laying somewhere in the operating system.

We use Windows XP.

Thank in advance,

BSDME2

We have a peer to peer network here in our company

What are you using ? What is the nature of the company ?

it take like 30 sec or more to

be able to display other computers or shared document on the network.

30 seconds is not too bad. What ongoing workflow problem is this 30 second delay causing ?

my boss computer

have issue when he open My Network Place

Why isn't your boss addressing this problem, instead of you ?

Does he have IT expertise in place to protect his interests ?

What contingency plans does your boss have in place for complete failure ? ( Backup, Disk imaging roll-out, Anti- Malware, etc.)

Tell us about all software installed.

How do you see the best way of resolving the problem that you have posted ?

Please answer the above questions as honestly as possible so that we may help you (Your boss) in a direct manner.

John.

Hi MANEMAN,

What are you using ?

Windows XP in peer to peer network, router to assign dynamic IP, but most are

assign static IP

What is the nature of the company ? electronic manufacturing (small business)

30 seconds is not too bad. >>> The thing is it only happen on his computer

and not other, like mine, all the computer and share folders almost appear

instantly, but his is very long, especially when 3/4 of the pc are off during

the weekend when he come in to use his computer

What ongoing workflow problem is this 30 second delay causing ?

I am not sure, whenever he click on My Network Place, it take

30+ second to be able to list all the computer that are in this P2P network.

Why isn't your boss addressing this problem, instead of you ?

I manage the computer network. We are not going into Client/Server network for a while.

What contingency plans does your boss have in place for complete failure ?

We have MIRRA backup drive to backup the important data for now.

How do you see the best way of resolving the problem that you have posted ?

Since I can not figure out the cause of this issue, even google it, then I will

have to reformat the hard drive and reinstall the WinXP again.

Any info you need let me know.

Thanks
