internet connection & security with xp pro

Hello,

There's an obvious bug with Windows internet connection parameters concerning the username: I select the option of username & password for my connection, (must enter both of them according to Windows instructions)) but the dialogue box automatically displays my username every time I want a connection. I want that to remain secret until I personally enter it, in addition to the password. So I'm wandering if there would be a way to intervene by means of a irreversible command thru the Registry perhaps? I would need to know how to formulate the command that would be protected by a password.

Presumably your referring to making a connection after you've logged into you account on a shared network. Have you tried checking the tick-box to Clear All Forms in the Clear All History option of Internet Explorer?  Or have I misunderstood your question?

What I meant is when I want to establish a internet connection via my internet service provider, I must use Windows XP PRO parameters to first configure the connection & then to log in, but Windows does'nt respect its own instructions with regards to the username.Unlike an email account, nobody needs to know my username, other than myself & the internet service provider.

I've no experience of having to log in in order to make an internet connection. But if you're saying the standard Windows Log-on Screen is used for this purpose then the Administrator's account might be able to change the log-on method from Control Panel > user Accounts > Change the Way Users Log on & Off. If Use Welcome Screen is checked, uncheck it. This will make the log-on method revert to the Classic logon screen where the user name has to be typed in.

This sitting can set differently for each of the different accounts, if you wish.

Anyway, it's worth a try to see if this solves the problem.
