elleh20
I need to reload my Vista operating system onto my Toshiba laptop, but cannot find my cds. Is there anyway that Microsoft will remember my registration? My only option might be to reload the Vista/Operating system from a Dell computer I have, but will that work with my Toshiba? bludgard
If you can borrow an install disc that is the same OS that was previously installed on your Toshiba, you can reinstall.Even if the Toshiba came OEM.When you activate the install, you will use the certificate of authenticity usually located on the bottom of your laptop. You will most likely have to activate by phone as well. The general rule is that OEM OS is only allowed one install-on the machine carrying the COA.If the Dell is OEM you can forget the transfer as you will not be able to activate Windows on another machine. If the Dell box sports a full retail version of the same Windows OS that was installed on the Toshiba, you can use that.Hope this helps.
