ZelCommer Posted October 13, 2010 Report Share Posted October 13, 2010 I have two exceptions for these two ports in my Windows Firewall:one for TCP port (5xxx1) and one for UDP (5xxx2) port.But they are still closed. And even if I turn off the Windows Firewall, they will remain closed! I haven't any firewall software, my antivirus is without a firewall,and my computer is directly connected to the Internet (without any routers).My OS is Windows XP SP3 with all the latest updates.It seems that there're some other settings (not in Windows Firewall)which don't let the traffic to go through these ports. Dencandy Posted October 14, 2010 Report Share Posted October 14, 2010 With Windows certain ports are reserved exclusively for certain services and I believe some of these are written in to the operating system. Over-riding these reserved ports (if that's possible) can expose your computer to security risks. Why is it necessary to open these ports?
