Retep Posted November 23, 2010 Report Share Posted November 23, 2010 TOSHIBA A300-1bz 3GB RAM 250 GB hdd running Vista home premium with SP2My wife's laptop will not run many installed programs because of "side by side configuration errors". I have tried all the "fixes" that I found on the web but nothing has worked. The laptop even totally ignores some administrator command prompt intructions. I have given up trying to cure this.My question -- will upgrading from "Vista 32 bit SP2" to Windows 7 solve this and let her programs run again? -pops- Posted November 23, 2010 Report Share Posted November 23, 2010 I suspect you may have some infection on your machine.In stead of spending many fruitless hours trying to patch it up, I would do a format and fresh install of Windows.Upgrading may not work very well if you are intending to put the upgrade over the existing (faulty) configuration. -pops- Posted November 23, 2010 Report Share Posted November 23, 2010 It is very difficult, almost impossible to transfer programs from one operating system to another - one reason being that Windows distributes bits of programs all over the place and it is not feasible to collate these.Data recovery should be OK but be very careful in virus/malware detection before loading.
