nufclad147
My current hardware is Nivida Geforce 6200 le 256 and just bought a new monitor Samsung b2330h Monitor. When I look at the rear of both itims the graphics card seems to have a female dvi-i duel link connector i say duel link because it has 24 holes 3 rows of 8 and 4 holes in square formation beside a cross shape slots. The Samsung monitor seems to have female dvi-D duel link connector. I know my monitors dvi-D female connector does not take the analoge RGB signal thus loses the 4 square holes on connector ive worked this out so Would I be right in thinking I need a male to male dvi-D duel link cable ???? I ask because i dont think my Samsung monitor or graphics card are duel link my specs on monitor says 1920 x 1080 an did read duel link can display a resolution of 2560 x 1600 so I presume that although these duel link holes excist on connector on rear of my monitor and graphics card they will not serving purpose. In which case a male to male dvi-D single link cable is needed ?My confusion is i dont think the duel link holes would exist if they did not serve some purpose I think I have solved my confusion about dvi-i connector on graphics card working fine with my dvi-D connector on monitor both female with the correct male to male cable as im gathering the male dvi-d cable will fit into the female dvi-i connector an simply cover the 4 unused holes on the dvi-i connector. Is this correct ? Thanks for all help a time giving in this matter

nufclad147
thankyou for the link i had used simuar websites information to self educate but im still really just asking for cofirmation before i buy the cable. See my confusion is that on the rear of my monitor is what looks like the dvi-D dual female connector meaning it has all 24 pins in 3 rows of 8 there is not blanked ut middle portion .. on my graphics card is female dvi-i dual link connector type..I can fully understand not wanting the analogue signal that a dvd-d dual male cable would fit into a dvi-1 dual female connector an work it just means ther is no pins inserting into the 4 holes of c1 c2 c3 c4 on connector what isnt clear in my mind is why id have what seems like female dual dvi-d connector on rear of my monitor.thats why im asking if it is protocol to place a male dvi-d single link into what looks like dvi-d duel link female connector because me monitor isnt dual link it goes to 1920x1080 mannual says is its native setting.
