anthonymartin
Hello all,I did a system restore on my laptop...dell inspiron5150, and it somehow wasnt able to reinstall windows. I got a windows xp home cd from a friend and installed it, all went well, now it is asking me for a login. It has the user name already filled out as "Administrator". Does anyone know if there is a default password or any other options I have. I alrdy tried leaving password blank and putting in admin and administrator. Any help is greatly appreciated. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
I do not quite get the connection between the System Restore and Windows reinstall; why did you need to reinstall after the System Restore?Regarding your request for password help; the forum rules do not allow help with password issues, however legitimate they may be. Dencandy
Yes, System Restore restores setings for the existing installalation of Windows. It has has nothing to do with Reinstalling Windows which wipes out the existing Windows installation & reinstalls a new one.Regarding using your friend's istallation CD, even if you manage to install it, that won't work properly because it's an illegal copy. You need to purchase your own copy of the Windows operating system.
