Advanced Word Processor Needed

Recommended Posts

I use google docs for my creative writing. Much of that includes compiling large word lists, to keep these lists in good order and have the right word at hand when I need it, I'm looking for a word processing program/suite/online app/browser add on, an anything! that will allow me to quickly filter through these lists.

For example: I create a list of 500 fruits in a document, with this program I should be able to tag the words in that list with terms such as "white" "small" "round" "yellow" "sweet" "bitter" "berry" "tree" "bush" "bird" etc. Now, when I need to find a small, white, berry birds eat, I can filter the list with tags and highlight for instance mistletoe from the other 499.

I've googled everything I could think of, without joy, so I'd really appreciate any help.

Thanks guys

Hi there. :welcomewf:

I use Taggtool for tagging software.

I cant quite get my head around what you are trying to do (My fault not yours) but I'm thinking that you may be able to use Taggtool for your needs.

Possibly not useful to you but I will also mention file/folder search Everything Search which will lock in on, and find individual words on the NTFS system.

John.

I do not know of any program that does what you want, although it is quite possible that such a thing exists.

If you cannot find it, perhaps the easiest would be to write it yourself, with an SQL database as a storage facility. Then find a clever search mechanism (see this post) to return the results in order of relevance.

Hey Doraemon, Maneman thanks for the replies and the warm welcome. My idea is to make a bespoke word list/dictionary who's results could be filtered. Lets say I wanted to find the names of flowers with exactly four syllables from my word list, I wanted to be able to filter that list by flower/sylables=4.

Your right Doraemon, all my research suggests that the only way to do this would be in a database. I have zero coding experience but it looks like I'll have to learn some SQL and put something together myself. Thanks for the link your book project looks interesting.
