All,

Wife inadvertantly shut off laptop while Windows Update was in process of loading. Now in this endless update cycle where it comes up "Configuring updates: Stage 3 of 3 - 0% complete"

"Do not turn off your computer"

System appears to be processing with the rotating circle going and the hard drive chunking along, but never changes from the 0% and after about 3 minutes, reboots to go into this same routine once again.

I've tried to boot in safe mode to no avail. Help... I'm about ready to throw this thing out the window!!! ~: (

Hello.

Do you happen to have Windows install/repair media at hand?If so you could probably boot from it and choose the option to repair startup issues.Could even try to restore the computure to the last working state from the disk.

As a test, try to access the recovery partition by repeatedly pressing F8 at boot.Imediately after pressing the power on button.

Any Image Backups that you may have recently created?

Thanks so much for your timely reply. I was able to restore the system back to 3 days ago and am once again up and running.

You ahve just saved another laptop's life! Much appreciated- The F8 option is very handy and one I'll not soon forget.

Thanks again!

Jon

Glad the recovery partition was able to sort this for you.Do not depend on this as a lifesaver for it can easily become inaccessable.

It would be a good policy to seek out other options to get your machines back to a working state.BackupImages,Windows repair disc,an install .ISO or two just in case the OS has corrupt and/or files taht have gone missing and in need of original files, which it can find on this install media.

As long as the wife is happy, the world is a grand place...;)

I've tried to boot in safe mode to no avail.I have tried F8 and still cannot get past this loop. I do not have my CD.
