Windows 7 Not sleeping Automatically

Ok I've spent hours configuring options in the power management options , I've tried sytem restore to the earliest possible time , I've turn t of and disabled wake by and suspend selective USB devices . I've used CCleaner and fixed registry issuers . I've disabled start up programs such as Utorrent .

I am now out of Idea's and Have not found much other advice on the internet , my Laptop computer still does not sleep automatically, on a timer . Whichever time I use the computer stays awake regardless . I can however manually put the laptop to sleep , by clicking on the sleep icon and by selecting sleep by closing the lid

I would like the laptop computer to sleep when I forget to turn it off. It just stays awake for hour on end

Any suggestions ?

I cant think of any advice to offer apart from what is given by Microsoft. You have probably already been down this path, but just in case not, here it is again.

For what it's worth, - "Standby", "Sleep", and "Hibernation" has always been a total PITA on Windows operating systems in my opinion.

(Too many variables can be installed and running in the background that keep overiding the main objectives.)

Your post didn't ask for an opinion though, - but advice.

If you still cant get it to work after following the Microsoft guide, Just keep punching away at the Microsoft helpline is my best advice.

(Perhaps one day they will toughen it up a bit, so that it is not so "Touchy Feely")

Or. - Try to stay awake long enough to turn the darn thing off manually.

Either it wont go to sleep, or equally, wont wake up with mouse movement when it is supposed to. - Total timewasting PITA !!! .

Just to add two cent,have you checked Power Management options for your eternet controller?
