All I really want to see is if I can incorporate only some things from a future version and in turn making an alternate version of the OS like a 5.5 if u will. They both have pistons, crankshafts, valves and manifolds and both come from Volkswagen. Do you think it will work? If you managed to get them installed, it is likely the first time you fired it up, the engine would seize and never work again. You will need to know how to deal with "Blue Screens", Reinstate things from command line, and most times have disks prepared for a "Clean install". Windows operating system kernels are a closed source code, so there is only so far that you can go.Linux on the other hand is open source and you can mess for ever and ever.There is a lot to be learned from "Tinkering". It's probably not best done on your sole computer though.A very good starting point would be to install Windows ME and try to improve it. ( Or at least try to understand how the transition from "Windows 98" to "ME" went so wrong.) Subsequently, you will then want to find out why the transition from "ME" to Windows XP went so "right".PhantOm. Seeing as microsoft never rebuilt the thing from scratch, its more like the difference between an audi '02 and '09 models of the same car... and they are just updated versions of the exact same parts and are still very much compatible. As for right now i just want dwm to run and so far i've ported dwmapi.dll and advapi32.dll my pc hasn't crashed yet!! but according to dependency walker i need to update user32 and two other plugins to get aero to work. windows is kinda dependent on user32 so its now a delicate procedure at this point.
