Download the free malwarebytes from http://www.malwarebytes.org/ install it and update it. Restart the computer and tap the f8 key, choose safe mode and run a full scan of malwarebytes from there. I assume Windows 7, since you posted in the Windows 7 forum.What antivirus software do you have installed?Have you tried the earlier suggestion by jimv7 to download Malwarebytes? (Download it, install it, then run a full scan of your computer.)Don't worry if you don't know much about computers; the users here can give you very detailed and easy-to-understand instructions to fix your problem. Harves Posted February 17, 2011 Author Report Share Posted February 17, 2011 I appreciate everybody's efforts to help this 80 year old computer newby, but have tried everything suggested and pop up appeared again this morning advising me I had 40 registry errors and to click on to fix them.Then of course telling me to sign up for xx amount of dollars. bludgard Posted February 18, 2011 Report Share Posted February 18, 2011 Have you tried (long shot here) System Restore?Possibly restore your machine state to a time before all this started?If you have tried all the above without success,and there are no backups prepared from which to recover from,then it may be time for a clean-install of your OS.You could possibly end the the service(s)/proccess(es) of this rogue software from within task manager,then run another scan with Malwarebytes.Or try running MBAM in safe mode.It could go on and on....This is not a case of ,"Let's ignore it,maybe it'll go away."It will only get worse and may be sharing with the rest of the world your personal information (if there is any on your machine).If you have the install media at hand,I (or others here) will help you with the reinstall proccess if needed.If the mahine has a recovery partition,maybe you could restore it back to factory condition by repeatedly tapping F8 (or whatever your manufacturers' requirement) as the system boots.Then follow the prompts. rong Posted February 18, 2011 Report Share Posted February 18, 2011 if this was me I would do a search for the name of the company that is spamming you and delete all the instances then do a clean with CCleaner and a registry clean with CCleaner to see if that helps, I don't change any settings when I use CCleaner so if you do be careful. If you get rid of it then I would suggest you put http://noscript.net/ on as this will stop allot of these things from loading it can be a bit of a pain at times as you need to allow things to load that make some sights work but it does stop the advertising, the other thing that can help is W O T (Web of trust) as this gives you an idea of how trustworthy the sights you go on are Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
