Barbara Jane
I am not sure this is the right place to be however I have a problem. I have a small Dell about 4yrs old and it came with Windows xp. Some friend of my husband decided that I would love Firefox/ I don't! I have no idea where the Ubuntu came into play but it is there. I have tried everything to get rid of both of them as I want my XP back. For some odd reason the "Start" has disappeared and also I can not go to the Control Panel to delete anything.... cause I can't find it either. I had a few people try to help me but no luck. I am somewhat new at all of this and so if anyone has an idea....besides restoring it back cause of no control panel listing....I would love to hear it. Thanks for any help
Alan2273
A few quick questions, when you boot up do you have to choose between XP & Ubuntu. How do you know Ubuntu is on the computer. To access the start menu, press and hold down the control key. then press the escape key. This should give you access to the control panel, if not, click the Start button and locate the search box then type in appwiz.cpl, this will give you access to the Uninstall programs, then you can get rid of Firefox & Ubuntu. As it is a long time since I have dual booted, Ubuntu may be under the heading of WUBI ( which allows you to install Ubuntu within Windows), so if you cannot find Ubuntu in the uninstall program list have a look for WUBI,Let us know how you get on. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
I would ask some friend of your husband to put the system back to the state it was before he started playing with it.I will move this topic to another forum, as it has nothing to do with the forum discussion.
