hosts file or dns zone with tricks

Recommended Posts

Friends,

We have new VPN connection with our customer (For eg. afp.com). They want us to access intranet sites (abc.afp.com, xyz.afp.com and 10 more). They have same public domain afp.com in Internet. The intranet sites doesn't work with just IP, it only works with FQDN.

1. I know the best way is to create hosts file. However, I have 5,000 users. It is impractical.

2. If I create dns zone in my internal DNS server and if users wants to access customer's others resources on Internet, they will not able to access such as web1.afp.com, web2.afp.com and they have 100s of sites.

Please advice. Thanks in advance for your help!

Arnold

Dear Mr. Schwarzenegger.

It is indeed gooding that advice you need.

Welling pleased that firstlingly you came here.

web1.afp.com, web2.afp.com and they have 100s of sites, is both wholesome and lovely.

As always, we will try to turn your post into something that is both informative and educational at some stage.

Perhaps yourself could be thinking along the same lines ?

John.

Well he did say - " I would figure it out and post it here. " So I would guess he didn't , I've been sitting here since 11th March 2011 awaiting some feedback and none has come forth.

What is your particular interest in this subject selvapandian ?

Seems as though the original poster may just have been a timewaster perhaps ?

Give us your views on a poster with 5,000 users who cant be bothered to post back.
