snoogans
Last night it was dark and I hit some keys that opened a menu for "multiple keys" or something about using 3 or 4 key combo for special character. When I cancelled the keys have 2 second delay from when I hold key to when it shows up. For capital letter hold down Shift for 2 secs before letter for 2 secs. All key functions including delete. Please note this is not a buffer or memory issue. HELP! Thanks!

snoogans
First thing is to try a System Restore to a time before this happened.I guess I didn't have System Restore turned on. :(Now it plays a tone... not the beep it gives if you hold the key down too long, but a lower pitched tone. When I press a key it beeps then beeps again when the key shows up on my screen 2 seconds later. If I keep the key pressed down, it does nothing after showing the key once. snoogans
First thing is to try a System Restore to a time before this happened.I figured out the problem. In the "Ease of Access Center", I had "Filter Keys" selected. When I deselected this, it started working again. Thanks for your time. I almost forgot... It was a Dell Inspiron 1545 running 32-bit Windows Vista Home Premium.
Scythe
Filter keys is designed to do as it says, filter bad key traffic out. You probably just hit a hotkey combination to accidentally open the dialogue for it, checked it to on, and then accidentally hit accept instead of cancel. It happens.
