allatsea
I have a 32 bit PC with four 500 gig hard drives in a raid. Some time ago I had probs with crashes and a local techie wiped the disk(s). Now it has no OS on it, so I tried to install using the original disk (Vista Home Premium) and I get on OK until I click on the type of installation, which has to be CUSTOM as the other one is greyed out. I then get a list of three (not four) drives numbered 0, 1, and 2. Whichever one I click on gets the message "The computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure the disk's controller is enabled in the Bios".I would be grateful for any help you can offer. I can follow intstructions but I am not tremendously technical. I just want it to work again. Makcalable
You will need to boot from the windows vista install DVD to be able to perform a clean install by selecting "custom installation"Place the Windows Vista installation DVD in to your DVD drive, then reboot your system to allow the DVD to launch. At your first prompt, press any key to continue the process. Click Next and then click "Install Now" when prompted.[media]http://youtu.be/puY4vRhAKYo
-pops-
It seems to me that your "techie" is more of a "wreckie".I hope you didn't pay him for leaving you with a non-operating machine. My advice would be to protest to your techie and get him to put things right.
