Removing program not shoing up in Add/Remove Windows 7

Due to a serious computer crash I am trying to set up a new system running Windows 7. I previously used XP Pro.

My main problem is with Quickbooks V5, about 1999 I think, on which I run accounting records for a small sporting club. I think that I know why I am having problems running it, and need to go back to install previous versions to then upgrade to V5.

Installing QB 5 on auto pilot I allowed the default choices to run which caused it to be installed in the root directory, not in Program Files. When it would not run properly I decided to remove the program to go back to earlier versions, which I also have, and upgrade. But Add/Remove does not recognise that the program is even there!

Can anyone please assist a newbie to W7 who can move around a bit OK in computing, but not hugely knowledgeable with the intricacies of modern software?

Or you can try if CCleaner (Tools) can see and uninstall it.

Or you can use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove it.

I tried Revo and it could not find the program as I seem to think that because it went into the root directory Win does not recoconise it because there would be no Registry link. I eventually just bit the bullet and dragged/dropped it into the bin, after trying Revo and MyUninstall.

Thanks for your advice though. It helped me to eliminate a few other factors.
