Windows 7 touchscreen issue

I'm using a touchscreen with Windows 7, using the stock Windows 7 drivers, and everything works fine, but there's one quirky behavior: it doesn't register a touch until I remove my finger from the touchscreen. In other words, if I press a button, the touch isn't registered until I remove my finger.

I think it does that to see if I'm going to do some other gesture (a swipe or whatever), but I have all gestures and every extra feature disabled, but the behavior remains.

Is there some way to configure a touchscreen under Win7 differently?

I don't think you can do this.

The way I understand these things operate is that the first touch of the screen "activates" it ready for the next action, be that drag and drop or removing the finger (= a mouse click).

This is correct and the way it should work, reason being if you are selecting an option by 'keeping your finger on the tab or button' and then it changes it will just act as a rolling action and keep going through the available options that would possibly under your finger.

Wouldn't make sense to have what you are suggesting in place and as any other touch screen you need to release your finger to be able to move on through whatever options.
