miseryguts Posted November 14, 2011 Report Share Posted November 14, 2011 A brief synopsis of the problem: Windows installs some automatic updates, the next time i power up results in a: BOOTMGR is missing message (NOT the first time this & other problems have happened after a Windows update)One re-installation of Windows (on my working HDD) & much web trawling later i discover that for whatever bizarre reason the updates had not only changed the boot order of my HDDs but effectively killed my SSD (where the OS was originally installed) the SSD appears in the bios & in device manager, but not in Windows.The SSD does appear in Disk management as: Disk 0 Unknown, Not Initialized & Unallocated but won't let me Initialize Disk (MBR option) returning a: Data error (cyclic redundancy check) when i try to do so. Is there anything at all (apart from buying a new SSD, it isn't that old) i can do to resolve this..? Thanks.
