Chris
Earlier this month Microsoft said it could no longer give a target date for Longhorn, the delayed successor to Windows 2000 that was initially due to ship this year. It now seems unlikely to arrive before 2006.

Chris
I wanted to build myself a brand new high spec PC in 2004 /2005 to co-inside with the lanuch of Longhorn, i dont think i can wait til 2006 :angry:Well the way i see it. Were now seeing 1024 MB of memory appearing in computers, as opposed to 256, 512 MB.Graphics cards seem to be 64 or 128 and were now seeing 256 MB cards with DX9.Internet Explorer has been at version 6 for two years.I doubt that WMP will remain at version 9 into 2006.Also with FSB's now up to 800MHz (intel) and 400Mhz (amd) with processor speeds at max now 3.2GHz. Not forgetting 64 bit processing! The way i see it...I would wait, until Longhorn is on the shelves, until you build a PC. :D Next year i believe (November) intel will release the Pentium 5 Processor, this is where we will see 3.6Ghz P5's and no doubt the FSB's will be pumped up.In 2006 who knows what we'll have? Also from reading "reports" it would appear that Longhorn is not just another o/s its something completly different, so i think it will like lots of new hardware! 2006 hardware i mean ;)But then again we wait and see.2006 - 3 years away ummm new excuse for a new PC
