scrantoncity
Hi, I generally start up Windows Resource monitor when I'm doing video conversion or other process intensive tasks, to see how much power it takes. Up until recently, it displayed all 8 cores, the main CPU Total, and then a Service CPU usage. Also, the performance tab of Windows Task Manager displayed all 8 cores. However, now only the tab of Windows Task Manager shows each core usage; the Resource and Performance Monitor only shows the Service CPU and Total CPU? Since all the cores show activity in Task Manager, I think my computer is at least recognizing each core, and I haven't noticed a performance hit at all. Anyone know what the issue could be? I'd like to be able to watch each individual core to see if it's "parking" or not. Thanks
MANEMAN
In the resource monitor window top left there is a drop downtab named "Monitor."Drop it down, and click on "Select Processors." Make sure that the box marked <All CPUs> has got a tick in it. I cant think of anything else that would cause it. (Unless something has gone seriously corrupt, or all the cores got so hot they have welded themselves together.) If you would like all the cores lined up in your taskbar, there is a freebie called "Drive Gleam" that you can download from Softpedia: http://www.softpedia...riveGLEAM.shtml It works............. 'Cos I use it. :) John.
scrantoncity
Hey John, I see the monitor tab, but the only options are "Start Monitoring (grayed out), Stop Monitoring, and Auto-fit columns in window." I was hoping it would be an easy fix like you said; maybe some other setting I'm missing? I'm not sure, but there is almost no way my processor is running at 1/4 power or anything, because I've been converting lots of video and it's been fast as ever. Thanks for your response, though.
