BSODs, corrupt chipset drivers?

Recommended Posts

I've been posting about a problem various problems I've been having, not related to infection, but I haven't mentioned what seems to be the most serious problem: very frequent BSODs related to nvatabus.sys which I assume is part of the Nvidia chipset (display drivers?). I'm really and truly ignorant about all of this. Does this mean the driver is corrupt, or needs to be updated? When Nvidia scanned my system for updates, it just identified a display driver.

Ought I to reinstall the chipset? If so, can I simply uninstall the Nvidia drivers and reinstall them? Or will installing them make the system nonfunctional? Any help will be appreciated. Below are specs for my system.

Thanks,

k.

Nvidia have their own very good support forum. Reading past posts there, or even asking a direct

question as you have here may open up a larger arena of diagnostics for you. Specialist forums are always the

quickest way to go when seeking answers to problems with specific tie-ins to third party software, drivers, or

scripting, as you have the likelihood of a higher number of people using "The Software", drivers , or scripting

with a large range of operating systems.

You can post at the Nvidia Forum Here:

Most XP problems can be easily cured with a fresh install or a "Repair Install" see Here:

Experimentation with your current XP Operating system without altering any of the settings can be carried out by running a virtualized copy of it.
