Printer install

Recommended Posts

I have several USB printers installed on Vista and one was accidentally deleted, but when I have tried to re-install it just gives error all the time and never prints. The printer is a Brother HL 5340D. There is another Brother 5234L working OK. The 5340D is showing in the control panel along with the others. All the USB printers that are in the panel have installed when plugged in but I suppose it must be to do with deleting it. Would appreciate any information.

No system backup either?

As the printer was deleted other than according to the recommended procedure, there are likely to be residues of the old installation still present and it is these that are preventing the fresh install from being possible.

Try removing the bits of the old software with something like http://www.revounins...e_download.html

With the advice you sent me and a bit of this and that with drivers I got the printer working again but it will not print two pages. It will print the first page and then shows a paper error, It will print two or more copies but not two or more pages. This must have something to do with the setup but I am unable to find just where. So again I would be thankfull any information on this.

Finaly got it fixed, had to make it Tray 1 and then it worked. I have been a Linux user for a number of years but not all software will work in Linux so I have hang on to Microsoft for this reason but strange as the printer was always working in Linux without Tray and no driver problems. Many thanks for the very good help.
