Mjfraser Posted July 2, 2012 Report Share Posted July 2, 2012 HITHis may sound like a stupid Question I purchased a CPU AMD FX 8150 series CPU now I am aware of ESD and what it can do to electronic equipment question is the CPU is still in its retail box will this retail Box protect the CPU for ESD. -pops- Posted July 2, 2012 Report Share Posted July 2, 2012 All the boxed CPUs that I have seen have had their pins embedded, or at least in contact, in a conductive foam or other conductive material.It should be OK if you haven't injudiciously removed it from its box or protective packaging.
