obelixk
Hi,I have a dual boot windows XP/ubuntu.Having some problem with windows I wanted to reintall it in the same way that I was doing that before having a dual boot.I had some troubles because of the dual boot. I could boot the computer anymore. After playing around with test-disk and boot repair I can finally boot properly. However if everything is find when I boot on ubuntu, I have some problems when I boot with windows.First all the software that I had before are gone, it is like if I had install a fresh new version of windows.Secondly I have a hard drive of 500G but I can see only 100G of this disk.Any idea of the path I should take to try to fixe my problem? I am prety sure that I am not giving enough information so ask for more if you think you can help. Thanks,

ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Re-reading your post I'm a little bit confused: did you reinstall Windows, or did you not?If not, what did you actually do?
obelixk
Hi, thanks for your response. I am using grub2 as a boot manager.I did reinstall windows but unfortunatly I didn't do it properly and I lost all the software that I had install on windowS. I did reinstall windows in the past without loosing the past configuration and software. It looks like windows as been reinstall in another part of the harddrive. But it may have been reinstall on the same place as the last one and I may have lost all the software, I can format the hard drive and reinstall everything
bludgard
..., I can format the hard drive and reinstall everythingSounds about right. Delete all partitions and then format and install. Next time you get the machine on a steady keel and seaworthy, create a disk/system image of the drive in anticipation of future fiddlins: If something goes wrong, recover from the image. Easy peasy.... :)
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
I suggest that you do a proper Repair Install of Windows on the original Windows partition.
