How do I stop this: attempting to rename files in explorer moves the viewspace to the next column on the right

...in list view, meaning that if i try to rename a file in a folder with a lot of files, i can't actually see the changes i'm making.

I'm thinkin' the files are moving to the proper predefined location and/or order (whatever the parameters; be it by file size, name, date modified etc.). If the folder is large with files, renaming the file may put the newly named file in a location that may have to be navigated to (scrolled [outside the view of the current window]).

All of the above is merely conjecture, of course.

hmm, this is strange. with the file selected, pressing either del or f2 moves the viewpoint one column over in list view. the names are a little long but still, this is not something that used to happen in xp or 2k.
