GHOSTOWL
Hello everyone,I have an ASUS G72gx laptop. It came stock with windows 7 x64 professional.CPU: P8700 @ 2.53 GHz - Intel Core 2 DuoI replaced the CPU with the X9100 INTEL Core 2 Duo EXTREME 3.06 GHzThe battery and AC both function just like new.I can run on batter or AC, I can bo between the two.But When going from the AC to the battery windows glitches and freezes and the battery tray Icon still shows plugged in full battery, or plugged in and charging. If I log off, then log back in, it shows correctly that is on battery. Then I plug the AC adapter back in, it then shows plugged in charging and works properly.-------------------This is very frustrating as the Asus hotkey buttons to change screen tone and enable/disablee touch pad does not work when the glitch happens. Sometimes the touchpad stopps responding. The laptop is like new, NO I did not break anything, yes this CPU is compatable with my model, I called ASUS support and they said the Motherboard supports it, it was in the tech manual they had.Yes I overclock this CPU to death and I can keep it cool and this laptop is insainly fast with it now, I mean it never was slow, it was always fast, but now its super-fast. :)Does anyone have any suddestions? I have already tried the ACPI battery management (in device manager) uninstall and reinstall in many restart and plunning in and unplugging methods and none of them worked...ever...This issue does not hinder the laptops functionality, I can always log off then log back in and everythings fine again, but I am serisouly annoyed by this...Windows did install new hardware when I installed the X9100 CPU. GHOSTOWL
Sometimes the Logging off and back on works, the rest of the time, it doesn't and the power management still is glitched...

You've over done it. Overclocking was always risky and the risks are probably greater now than in the days of slower systems. I fail to understand why overclocking is so popular. I must have looked at dozens and dozens of machines all but wrecked trying to attain the unattainable.
