cpu_count value changes over time

Hi folks,

Today a client called me telling me that an accountancy software is not working any more because it gets into DEMO mode.

They called support and reinstalled the software. Works for several hours then got again into DEMO mode.

What support told my clients and they told me, was that the value "CPU_COUNT" changes over time, and that's why the software got into DEMO mode. This software, as far as I know, register a lot of values of the hardware it's installed on, so if I register the software in a computer with, let's say, a P4 processor, and they change it for a P4 HT software will not work.

System is running Windows Xp Sp3, and we are not changing any hardware from it.

Does anyone know why CPU_COUNT value changes over time (I'm not over-clocking the CPU) and how I could solve it?

Thank you so much,

Sounds like someone is telling you a load of Ol' rubbish maybe ???

The counters listed below are all used to determine processor performance or the influence other components are enforcing over the processor.

% Processor Time.

Interrupts /sec.

% Interrupt Time.

% User Time.

%Privilege Time.

%DPC Time.

% Processor Time.

Processor Queue Length.

System Calls/sec.

% Total Processor Time.

% Total User Time.

% Total Privledge Time.

% Total Interrupt Time.

So.... Which CPU count is supposedly throwing software into demo mode ? ( Ask the software manufacturer.)

Who is the accountancy software manufacturer ?

Sounds as though they have a software bug and are trying to pass the buck to me. :)

Thanks for the reply.

Please note that this company ( Megasistemas ) offer support via "Teamviewer" - That is your best bet I would think.

Let them run the diagnostics for you.

Please note also: "Megasystems not guarantee the correct operation of its programs in Windows environment in Starter and Home Edition versions, when operating in a multiuser."

In may be in your best interest to upgrade your clients operating system.

John.
