Audio setup help needed

My goal here is to get the tv and my computer to both feed into my turtle beach headset

The reason is that I chat with my friends on my computer and occasionally want to watch TV or play xbox and so I can't chat anymore.

Here is my poorly drawn setup at the moment (doesn't work)

(HDMI is for video only)

Sadly this doesn't work how I planned it would. When both green audio cables are connected, I only get sound from the computer. However if I unplug the computer's audio cable, then I can hear the TV. If I plug the computer's cable halfway in, then I can hear both but it is very fuzzy. I'm assuming the problem is that the turtle beach does not accept two incoming signals at one time? If so, is there a way to change the sounds from the computer and the TV to go to only the left or right side?

Once again sir, thanks so much!

This is exactly what I meant. I didn't know these existed so I figured a y-cable; 2 male 1/4 jacks to 1 female 1/4 jack; would do the trick.

Now sadly I don't live in the UK so I wouldn't be able to purchase that specific one unless I paid even more for shipping. I looked for some similarities and found this...

It seems like the specs are the same.

I couldn't find one that only uses 1/8 (3.5mm) so If/when I get a mixer I would have to buy 2 1/4 male to 1/8 male cords to connect my computer and tv into one. Then I would have to buy a 1/8 female to 1/4 male adapter...(just realized I have one for some reason)

When I get all this, all I have to do is simply plug in the computer to channel 1 input, the TV to channel 2 input, then the headset into output, and I will be all set?

  • 2 weeks later...

Ok now I have a problem that just blows me away.

I was looking on bestbuy's website and it says the device comes with a power adapter. Typical consumer me assumes that to be a regular power cable as that is what all power adapters I have ever received in my life have been. More information on the website would have been so much more helpful than "power adapter"

and on Behringer's website...

So now I am sitting here with an audio mixer that I can not turn on because I got power cord that is completely unknown to me.

Any ideas? What is this and why did I get it instead of a standard power outlet?

Is this even possible to plug into a standard wall outlet???

If there is a converter, how much is that going to cost?

Got it all set up and it does what I wanted it to do but there is a slight problem. It doesn't bother that much but at times when I need to listen to things closely it sucks. The best way to describe it is that 90% of the sound goes to the right side of the headset and the muffled 10% is on the left side. When I used both the inputs at the same time, they both go to the right side instead of balancing themselves out...

Anyway to fix this or is just the type of mixer and cables I used???

***update***

The adapter I am using for the output is a 1/4 stereo male to 1/8 stereo female. This may be the problem because I am assuming the mixer only sends out mono. If I got an adapter such as this...

....and plugged it into the output portion, would that fix it? The input cables and adapters are also stereo instead of mono.
