Boris Posted September 29, 2003 Report Share Posted September 29, 2003 doing this from work, so need to be quick !Asus board with I think Award bios ?On boot - CPU, case and PSU fans work OK - green "live" light on the board but then a long single beep repeated after about 5 seconds and again and again.Power on LED shows on front of case.Speaker works.Reset button works OKNothing shows on screen.Onboard video, no other cards connected, no drives connected just RAM and CPU.Monitor connected works OK with another PC.RAM also.With CD-Rom drive fitted seems to find it OK.Is it a video problem with the board itself ? :unsure: Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Boris Posted October 5, 2003 Author Report Share Posted October 5, 2003 I've been trying "everything" for the last few days - complete dismantling and re-install of board, PSU, CPU, RAM, cards, drives etc. incrementally - 3 times ! :angry: The solution seems to so be simple :o when I cracked it last night.If I put any of my 3 Crucial sticks in Slot 1 of the 2 SDRAM slots - I get the beep error.BUT - If I put another make of PC133 SDRAM in that slot (even cheap generic) plus any Crucial in the other one - it works fine ! :D :blink: :D I usually swear by Crucial, but this is that one in a million ??? :blink: Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
