BruceG1968 Posted March 3, 2013 Report Share Posted March 3, 2013 Hi there, For some reason IE9 stopped playing flash video. When I click on a video I can get audio, but no picture. This seems to only happen on Internet Explorer, as I checked on Firefox and it works fine there. (I would use just Firefox but some work sites I use only work on Explorer.) I have tried uninstalling and re-installing Flash, Java and eventually Explorer. I downloaded IE10 and the same thing is happening. (As an aside, after downloading IE10 I went to try to log remotely in to work, but got the message "Make sure the Remote Desktop Protocol 6.0 or later is installed. It always was, but I tried to reinstall and it tells me there is not enough memory to install - it's 1.5mb, so I have plenty of memory. I only mention this as it may be linked ???) I have been to various forums and they all say to make sure Flash and Java are enabled, and they all are. I have exhausted every avenue that I know of, so now I am looking for expert help. Firstly, (and this may be a little bit off topic) if the flash videos that you are watching are on YouTube, make sure that their present HTML5 Trial is turned off. I have caught myself out a couple of times with this one already ! Have a look at this page and you will see all the details and how to opt in & out : http://www.youtube.com/html5 ,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-, It is worth doing a proper uninstall of the existing flash player before you go any further !The Adobe uninstaller and instructions are on this page: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html#main_Download_the_Adobe_Flash_Player_uninstaller Next (although you have done a clean install of I.E) set Internet Explorer back to defaults.This page will tell you how to do that, or guide you to a download of the Microsoft "Fix" : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 ActiveX Filtering in Internet Explorer 9 can also prevent the Flash Player from working. (Not sure if it is the same for IE10 I haven't tried it) To give you a better overview of some of the problems that can arise, go to the following page and make sure that you click on "Show All" when you are on the page.http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/help/adobe-flash-not-working Similarly with the java add-on it is worth clearing out old installs also.
