smock Posted April 6, 2013 Report Share Posted April 6, 2013 Helo I try to load a fresh copy of xp on my laptop and get error message {hd0,0} NTFS 5 no GRLDRI inserted an old hd into a laptop. The hd was working fine previously in the laptop, then I used it as an usb exterior drive and also to boot window 7 from it as an exterior usb boot. I formatted it before putting it into the laptop with standard windows tools. It reads empty but for some reason there comes up the message which kind of indicates that there may have been some boot info left on the disk that triggers the messages and prevents windows xp setup to continue. smock Posted April 13, 2013 Author Report Share Posted April 13, 2013 I tried CMD but it does not recognize the disk, anyway thanks for answers. I managed to wipe the boot info and got windows to boot. Another problem. Set up will not finish. I get blue screen when set up has some 6 min left, tried a bunch of times, always the same. I was told to reset SATA in bios options but no such option shows up in BIOS or anything with respect to HD save for HD test. All seems ok thou. I lost hard disk cage enclosure so not sure if that can be the problem. I made the disk sit tight in the compartment, but even without the bracket, i don't think it can affect transfer of data, so problem i would expect somewhere else. The OS formats the disk, loads set up files, proceeds with the installation, all seems fine until the last few minutes. the blues screen pops up.
