SweBeat
Hello, I have just installed Windows 8 and have a gigantic problem. I've tried googling it without success to find any help. I can't install files such as Skype Desktop and Net 3.5, because it says that it can't access internet. But I can still sit in my browser visiting websites, so I do not know what's wrong. I can't open my programs thats not apps, such as Mailbird. My friend who also has Windows 8 can open it, but I can not. When I click on the icon (mailbird) to open the software the mouse shows the loading thinghy, but then nothing happens. The program does not start. Sometimes it shows that the application is in my Task Manger, but sometimes not. However, the program never pops up so I can use it. Does anyone know why this happens? I have tried to restart the computer, I have tried to reinstall the entire Windows 8, and I have tried turning off the firewall. Please I just want to get started so I can use Windows 8, really do not understand at all why it does not work. It's a big problem since I can't install software that need to download from the internet and since I can't use desktop apps for some bad reason. Irene
Hello SweBeat, welcome to Windows Forum. :) Unfortunately I don't have Windows 8. However, I wondered if you could try the troubleshooter: http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-summon-the-windows-8-help-troubleshooters.html
