Windows7 runs slow (occasionaly)

HI all

I have an up to date Windows7 setup that I have scanned for viruses and malware both by local means and online scans and no infections show up :)

But there is an awful lot of disc activity that sometimes causes "<program> not responding" errors but they eventually do respond normally. When browsing any website that accesses Google takes an age to respond.

All of my defences are upto date: AVG, Malwarebytes, Spybot, and Hijackthis shows nothing unusual that I don't recognise. The startup entries in MSCONFIG are essential ones only.

Question. Is there anything you guys may have come across before like this or please suggest anything else to look for. If it sounds normal I will be content.

Thanks in advance

Graeme

In addition to above questions: Please give specs on the machine in question. If one doesn't know, at least let us know how mutch RAM is installed and the frqeuency of the CPU. Maybe guess at the age and size of the hard drive?

Thanks,

Edit: By the way, qat; thanks for directing me to links of offline installers for Adobe Flash Player in the Adobe Community forum. The links do work (contrary to what errant posters say there) but are extremely slow to load.

You da man!
