Help with RAM

Recommended Posts

Hi All hoping someone can help,

I have fairly old desktop pc with only 2x512MB RAM as standard,

A few weeks ago i used the crucial website to advise me of the right upgrade and ordered 2x1GB Komputerbay RAM

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004LT8MN8/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Upon taking out the old and putting in the new RAM i kept getting a LOT of Blue Screens, they were seated correctly, eventually i took them out and placed the original RAM back and it worked OK again.

I just want someone to help me confirm which RAM would work for my PC,

My PC is a 2007 Acer Aspire T671 SB7Z and here is the RAM details (from Speccy)

If you read some of the feedback on Amazon, it seems like a lottery with Komputerbay RAM, some say it is great but a lot of others have had problems with this memory.

Personally I would send them back for a refund and for the extra few pounds get them from Crucial for your own peace of mind.

A lot of people have had problems with one stick being faulty, so try each stick separately to see if one or both are faulty.

You can also run memtest on this ram, it can be downloaded for free from here. http://memtest86.com/

If you are unsure of how to use memtest there is a very good tutorial here.
