Hi all

I am new to all this business of connecting a phone to a PC so forgive is this is a silly question.

I have just bought a Nokia 7650 Mobile phone, and i would like to connect it to the PC in order to transfer contact data and photos, the instructions say that it will connect via either Bluetooth or Infrared.

Now as my Pc has neither am i right in thinking that all i need to do is buy one of these ?

Do i have to buy anything else for the phone in order for it to connect to the PC?

Thanks for any help on this :)

All the best

Tony

Yes you are right.

To communicate with the P.C. either get a usb ir. This is a device that has a usb cable to an ir receiver or sender. The ir device will come with software for it to communicate with windows. You have to point the phone directly to the ir device.

The bluetooth device is easier and more reliable. You can plug a bluetooth dongle into the rear of the computer. If the 7650 is within about 5 to 8 meters then the computer will pick up the device. Windows software will come with the dongle.

All the above will make the physical connections.

What you also need for a nokia 7650, the one that takes pictures is software. You will need to go to the nokia web site and download N7650_PCSuite_en for windows to recognise the phone. This should give you the link you need to communicate from the phone to windows programmes. Unfortunaley the file size is about 26Mb. A killer for dailup.

Also while you are there look for the pdf file for the phone. Screen shot attached.
