Guest nellie2
actually I'm practicing for next week. My software came today and I am waiting for my new processor and mobo to arrive. When they do I shall build myself a smart new PC, load XP and I shall be able to join in with all the XP posts :)

monkeyhanger
Nellie.Didn't you have X\P and revert back to 98? :o Check your settings for system restore when you set it up. It likes to hog about 12% of drive "C", if it's not a duel booting system. On a 80 gig drive that's a whopping 10 gig. :o
Guest nellie2
I did monkeyhangar....... it turned out to be a hardware conflict. Xp didn't like my chipset :( I had to go back to 98 in the end but then I upgraded to W2000 which is lovely but it feels like Im at work!!! :o My copy of XP went to a good home because I thought it would be ages before I upgraded but I went surfing about the web at the weekend with my credit card in hand and am now just waiting for the hardware to arrive!!! andsome
An excellent thread. there is no way that I would consider going back to 98 SE. I reckon that a very large percentage of the problems that people have had with XP, has been with upgrades. I don't know of anyone who has had real problems with a fresh install on a brand new computer.
